Abstract

Environmental degradation has become a major challenge to sustainable regional development, requiring effective economic policies to balance economic growth and environmental sustainability. This study examines the effect of Environmental Policy Expenditure, Environmental Regulation Implementation, and Sustainable Development Programs on Environmental Damage Control in Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using annual secondary time-series data from 2015 to 2025, analyzed through multiple linear regression. The results reveal that Environmental Policy Expenditure (β = 0.438; p = 0.002), Environmental Regulation Implementation (β = 0.397; p = 0.005), and Sustainable Development Programs (β = 0.512; p < 0.001) each have a positive and significant effect on Environmental Damage Control, with Sustainable Development Programs showing the strongest influence. The regression model explains 68.2% of the variation in Environmental Damage Control (R² = 0.682). These findings support Environmental Economics Theory by demonstrating that integrated fiscal policies, effective regulatory enforcement, and sustainability-oriented development collectively strengthen environmental governance and contribute to sustainable regional development
